Welcome to our blog!
This blog is written by Gary McCormick, founder of www.findalifecoach.us and is to serve and educate the people of Atlanta Ga in regards to how to find a life coach online and make the most of their time in working with a life coach, relationship coach, career coach, business coach or any other type of coach or consultant.
We look at and do a few things very, very differently than the other life, career and business coaches in Atlanta Ga or really anywhere for that matter:
1). Our staff has all had counseling, life coaching,om business coaching or mentoring prior to doing this for our clients. We all saw huge benefit and return on investment, it’s part of what brought us here.
2). We see the big 5 or so life coach directories online from the perspective of a client first, then as life coaches looking to connect with new clients. Quite honestly, we don’t like what we see and here’s why:
a). As potential clients looking for our first life coach, the list of “types of life coaches” by specialty and the length of the life coach list in general was overwhelming. Before we could start calling them all, we had to figure out for ourselves what type of life coach we in fact needed?
b). Next question in looking them all over was, is this for weeks, months or years? How do I know whether to start with a life coach, relationship coach, career coach, etc? Will we want to stick with the same life coach for a long time? My life is out of balance, I don’t know what to do next and it’s “tangled up”, don’t I need help in a lot of those areas?
c). Finally we figured out a starting place, what category or type of life coach to at least try. Now we had to look all the profiles over and talk or meet with a bunch of them. Well that took a while and, quite honestly, since we’re a friendly and pleasant bunch, most of us didn’t want to offend the life coach we were talking to so just hired the first one. Those of us that met with many had the other pleasant version of this experience.
d). More than 1/2 of us had a good first experience, but we all had better experiences later, we all changed coaches or mentors multiple times, we all had frustration because back in the beginning everyone was trying to sell us “life coaching” but didn’t really take the time to actually make the experience clearer and easier to work through.
e). Lastly, a comparison to going on a directory or review site looking for a roofer, I didn’t want 30-100 roofers, I wanted a friend who was a builder to recommend the best roofer at a fair price. But the directories don’t do that, they just give us the list when they could help much more? If you’re thinking it’s because they charge the roofers and in this case life coaches to be on the list…you would be exactly right! I each life coach is paying $30-100/month to be on a directory, then these sites are making millions of dollars presenting you and I these lists. But, it doesn’t really help that much, it’s not really what’s best for you or the life coaches, it’s what’s best for the directory or review site owner eh?
Ok, so I just wanted to paint a picture of what using a life coach directory from the front page of Google is like and really all about. They can serve a purpose, but it’s a mediocre purpose and not excellent service for most of us because they don’t actually resolve the primary issues and complications of finding your coach, they just get paid for making a list and directing traffic to it 😦
So here’s how Find a Life Coach Atlanta Ga is different:
1). If meeting with someone in your local city is important to you, then we find the best value, most rounded team of coaches under one roof in that city and connect you with them. If you are ok with meeting your coach via skype, join.me, phone or similar then we can match you with coaches from all over the country. For many larger cities, this will bring your cost down, save you sitting in traffic and give you the most options going forward. Industry wide we’re approaching 90% of coaching happening remotely this way for all the reasons just listed.
2). After filling out a “start-up” form, we do an initial meeting to access your starting point and desired goals, then we recommend a primary coach to start with. We shoot for 100% 1st coach match up success, but @ 95%+ on this we’re on the way. Occasionally a client wants to try again and that’s totally encouraged, as we want you to be super happy with your primary coach.
3). Here’s the best part. After a few weeks or months with your primary life coach, as you work through what you want your life to look like, initiating strategies, etc. you’ll often be needing the added or supplemental support of a career coach, relationship coach, business coach, etc. Sometimes they’ll be on a call with you and your primary coach, sometimes you’ll work with them every other time and sometimes as you get further along you’ll just work with them for weeks or months while focusing on a particular piece of your overall life plan.
4). Since we either partner with local firms that provide a full spectrum of coaches or, assuming you’re willing to work remotely with coaches from all over the US, then you can work with any of them even better. It means that you don’t have to worry about figuring out in advance exactly what coach or coaches you need when. It also means not having to go back to these directory sites and doing it the hard way each time.
5). I almost hate to add this last point, but it’s incredible when you experience it. Eventually we all tell some friends, relatives or get overheard at a party bragging on our life coach. Imagine though, that someone tells you about their counselor or life coach and your response is, “me too, except I have an entire coaching team”. You don’t need every type of coach or coaching specialty each week or month, but there will be times that you do. There’s a real sense of confidence that comes from having a entire team of advisors that will jump in and coach you through whatever may come.
Ok, I went way longer than I originally planned, but I’m gonna roll with it because how we begin is important and you’re important, but let me start wrapping up this post for all our sake 🙂
Having made it this far, I’m sure you can see that coaching has been a life long commitment for us as coaches. We know that most of you, once you start getting coached will do so on and off for the rest of your lives. We also know statistically, that some decent percentage of you will become coaches yourselves one day…it’s just the natural bi-product of being coached well and your own life going to the next level 🙂
That said, if what we’re doing matches the way you think and the way you would like to be coached, then come to our main website, call the phone # above or use the contact form on this blog and get in touch. We’re real people, we’re in the US (headquarters is in Atlanta) and we would love to have you as a new member of our coaching family. Wherever you are at today, it doesn’t determine your tomorrow, so take action (sadly less than 5% will), reach out to us and let’s go wherever you decide to go…together!
